Wet n’ Wild Fall 2014 5-Pan Palettes Review

image

Hello everyone! Wet n’ Wild has released 4 Limited Edition 5-pan palettes for Fall 2014, and I was able to find 3 of them to review for you!

These are all beautiful palettes and I like the quality of these much better than the 5-pans I have from their permanent line. I wish they would make these permanent!

If you would like to look up the palette that I could not find, it is called Smoke and Melrose.

image

This is Melrose at Night. This is a very nice and neutral palette and I think it’s nice for an everyday Fall look. I really like the Browbone shade as well as the Definer, which reminds me a lot of Urban Decay’s Blackheart (from the Naked 3 Palette).

image

This is High Wasted Jeans. When I bought this palette I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it, but I actually really fell in love with it.

image

This is Angels in Aubergine. This is definitely my favorite palette and the one that caught my attention. It’s so gorgeous and it just screams Fall to me. With this you can create a light look or a deep and smoky look (and anything in between) incorporating those gorgeous pink and red tones. I love it!

I am very impressed with this collection from Wet n’ Wild, and I think it’s absolutely worth checking out!

Saturday Sightings, 9/13/14!

I’m back with another addition of Saturday Sightings!

Here’s what’s new at the drugstore this week!

Spotted at CVS: MUA Display

If you haven’t heard about these displays popping up, I just want to offer some clarification. I was so excited when I found out that MUA was going to be in CVS Stores in the US (if you don’t already know, MUA is a UK brand), but these are not the same MUA products that you will find in the UK. This line was designed by MUA for CVS, so the two lines are totally separate. The products here are much pricier than the products in MUA’s core lines, and I’ve heard that the quality is not that great. I was so disappointed when I found out that these are not the same MUA products that you can find in the UK.

The whole thing is kind of confusing, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Unknown Pleasures Technopagan Review

image

Hello everyone! Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics recently released their Fall 2014 collection, Unknown Pleasures. The collection includes 6 all new lip tars including Technopagan, the one I’ll be reviewing today.

image

Technopagan is described as a metallic blackened purple with blue pearl, which is definitely accurate. In the photos above you can see the lip tar without flash and with flash.

I will say this lip tar is a lot more drying than others that I own, and it takes a little more product than usual to get a full coverage look. That being said, I absolutely love this color. I think it’s gorgeous and gothic in a fashionable, modern way. I will definitely be using this a lot this Fall and Winter.

I definitely recommend you check this lip tar out! As far as I know all of the lip tars from the Unknown Pleasures collection are permanent additions to OCC’s line.

Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencil Review

image

Hello everyone! I am so excited to review the Colourpop Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencils!

Colourpop is a fairly new brand that is growing in popularity. I absolutely love their eyeshadows (review coming very soon!) and when I found out they were releasing lipsticks I was so excited!

These lipsticks and lip pencils will make their debut on September 18th, with 20 shades available in three finishes: Matte, Glossy, and Satin. Colourpop will then expand this range at a later date to include over 30 shades of Lippie Stix and Matching Lippie Pencils.

The shade I have to show you today is Grind, which is a Matte formula, with the matching Grind Lippie Pencil.

image

When you place an order with Colourpop, they always provide you with an information card about the products that you ordered, which I love.

image

Let’s start with the Lippie Pencil. I really do like this formula. It is super creamy for a lip liner but long-wearing and it keeps your lipstick in place. The shade Grind is just a little bit more pink than the corresponding lipstick, and I really don’t think a lipliner is necessary for the matte formula, because it is very long wearing on its own, but it’s nice that Colourpop has provided corresponding liners for their lipsticks.

image

This is the Lippie Stix in Grind (with my lips lined with the Lippie Pencil). As you can see in the swatch it does appear to have some shine but on the lips it’s totally matte.

I absolutely love this color. I think it’s so gorgeous and the perfect purple with pink undertones.

I do find the formula to be very drying, however, which I was disappointed with. It’s not that comfortable to wear on it’s own so I recommend using a very hydrating lip balm with it. I do think it’s worth working with, though, because the color is really gorgeous.

I really can’t wait for the entire line to come out, because I will definitely be trying some other colors and formulas! I will probably buy more of the lipsticks than the pencils, but it is very nice to know that a matching liner is available should you need or want one!

As I mentioned before, these will be available for purchase from the Colourpop website on September 18th, and both the Lippie Stix and the Lippie Pencils will be $5 each.

Maybelline The Nudes Palette Review!

image

Hello everyone! Today I am so excited to review a new drugstore palette - The Maybelline The Nudes Palette! I was so excited when I heard about its release a few months ago. We don’t really have any drugstore palettes from core drugstore brands (by this I mean brands you can find at almost any store like Maybelline, L’oreal, Covergirl, etc), so this is definitely something fairly new in the world of drugstore makeup. Also, since everyone has been going crazy for neutral eyeshadows lately, I think it’s great to have an option for those who do not want to spend a lot of money on a palette.

For those of you who are wondering if this is a dupe for any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, it’s not. I would really like to look at this palette as its own product instead of compared to the Naked palettes, but if I had to chose which one it reminds me of it would be the original Naked palette.

image

Here are the swatches of the palette and an up close look.

I would say the quality and the pigmentation of these shades are very good overall, although there are two shades that are a bit flaky and more difficult to work with, and those are the gold shade and the first shade on the top row. I was kind of disappointed about this because those are my favorite shades of the palette.

As far as finishes, you’ve got a good mix, ranging from matte to shimmery to metallic, and some in between. I’m very happy with the range of finishes and I am happy that there is a matte browbone color available.

I’ve seen this palette range from $10 to $12 depending on the store which I think is a great deal for the 12 eyeshadows that you are getting.

Overall, I really like this, and I’ll definitely use it a lot. I am very happy that there is finally a good neutral palette option from a core drugstore brand.
